VS. Ricochet mousing padz benchmark |
Our first feature
test exposes 2 mousing surfaces designed for intense
gaming precision, namely the Ratpadz GS
& the new Everglide Ricochet.
Gamers, graphics designers and
precision input devices require only the best there
is in hardware to support the most demanding applications.
Although designed mainly for gaming, these mouse pads
offer more for precise input control for both optical
and trackball mice.
Next up – quick specs for
each pad
Everglide Ricochet
• Dual surfaces with varied
control
• Ultra thin design
• Large surface area
• Plastic grip feet
HardOCP Ratpadz GS
• Hard Solid plastic
• Oval cut for the palm
• Protected rubber grip feet

Quick Overview
The Ricochet performed very well
with a standard Logitech optical mouse. We found a clear
varied difference between the two surfaces on the Ricochet,
both delivering superior control. A little drawback
that we found with the Ricochet is the protruded grip
feet on the surface. Although they held firmly in place,
we had a feeling that the feet might detach on long
term use.
The GS was more of a solid piece
with bottom rubber grip feet supported under the molded
plastic. The grip feet on the GS were more protected
than the Ricochet however the GS had a thicker dimension
profile.

In variation
The GS had a more solid build,
with protected grip feet, recommended for long term
use. The Ricochet, with a razor sharp profile, although
with protruded grip feet for the dual surface provided
an unique option of surfaces for intense control. We
found the ricochet to be more on a personal item rather
than heavy duty hardware. The Ricochet also comes in
3 colors which Everglide generously provided, glossy
black, orange flame red, contour grey. Not necessarily
named as such.

In final words
Everglide Ricochet – Overall
score 7.5/10
Ratpadz GS – Overall score 8/10
Both padz impressed me as they
provided effective mouse control and precision. I personally
leaned for the Ricochet for its dual surface option.
